INSTALLATION NOTES
------------------------------------------------------------------------

(1) Your synthesizer might generate random sounds while updating its firmware. This is due to the synthesizer temporarily not getting updated with patch information. If this doesn't change for more than a minute, your update most likely did not succeed. In that case, please powercycle your synth and try again.

(2) Although this archive contains .syx Files (SysEx), the update might not work with regular Sysex tools like MIDI-OX, as the very first command needs to be followed by a relatively long delay. If you still need to, you can try with a long "delay after F7" value (like 200ms), but this will cause the whole update to take significantly longer.

INSTALLATION
------------------------------------------------------------------------

With MIDI sequencer/playback software
- from your MIDI software, find the option to open import a standard MIDI file (SMF)
- navigate to your downloaded firmware files, and select the file "HW_JP4_1_3e.mid"
- make sure the tempo is set to around 120 bpm when playing back the file
- now play back the MIDI file to the output where your JP4 is connected to.
- This update file process will update both modules - first the key assigner module, and after some seconds also the mainboard module.
- ALTERNATIVELY: you can udate one module at a time with one of the file "HW_JP4K_1_3e.mid" or "HW_JP4M_1_3.mid" files

With hamburg.wave software editor (currently Windows-only)
- Connect the JP4 so that the software discovers it.
- From the "settings" menu, choose "Update Firmware..."
- In the "Update Firmware" wizard, click "Open..."
- navigate to your downloaded firmware files, and select the file "HW_JP4K_1_3e.syx"
- Click "Start Update" to initiate the update process. Wait for the transmission to finish.
- When done, press "Open..." again, then load the "HW_JP4M_1_3.syx" file and proceed like before.
- After the second file, close the Update window. Restart your JP4 to check if version 1.3 is now installed.
